A simple telephone call late one night
from Neville Moore (a total stranger)
changed my life forever.
I would be honored if I could, in turn,
"pay it forward" and do the same for you. . . .
Going Back In Time
The year I
graduated from high school (back in the olden days!),
my father was transferred from Richmond, Virginia where I grew up,
to the Philippine Islands. Dad was to serve as the Immigration
attaché to the American Embassy for the Near and Far
East, but we were to be stationed in the Philippines.
And -
That's where my education actually began ï¾ when I left
the United States to go and live and study and eventually work abroad.
How blessed we are with
abundance in North America, and how very much we take
things for granted! It's my firm belief that unless a person has traveled or
lived in another country, he just cannot comprehend how
most of the world lives.
My
Education Begins
So there I was ï¾ just barely 17, and living in the Philippines.
My Dad was "Number
10" on the "Diplomatic List" (after the Ambassador and
the Minister and several others) so I received a
crash course in Diplomatic Protocol for Heads of State upon my
arrival. You see because he was only 10 people down on
the Diplomatic List - and the first 10 on the List get invited to everything - this meant that my Mom and Dad
(and ME!) would be invited to
EVERY function or Affair-of-State that occurred on
behalf of, or related to, the American Embassy while we
were living the Philippines. . . embassy balls, embassy
receptions, cocktail parties, receptions, teas, dinners
at the Ambassador's Residence, dinners at foreign
Embassies. . .
What fun for me! A Student at the
University of the Philippines by day, attending cocktail
parties, teas, and State dinners at night. Naturally, most of
these affairs were formal, so Mom and I were provided
with our own private seamstress who made us new dresses
and gowns for each event.
We lived in an elite
gated community called Forbes Park. We traveled often
on weekends. I especially remember several trips to a
mountain resort in Bagio (now totally burried under
volcanic ash) for golf sessions and short leisurely
vacations.
We also had live-in help in the home,
a completely new and different experience for me. There
was Sylveria the cook and Esperanza the lavendera ï¾
two wonderful ladies, who actually were married and had
families of their own! and Estavan, the gardener.
I could go on and on and on. It was a great time for
me. As a student living on campus at the University of
the Philippines, I traveled around the countryside with my classmates
in the International Students' Club (ICUP).
We generally stayed with host families in the local
communities that we were visiting. We often slept
on mats or right on the floor in many homes without any
electricity, plumbing, or toilet facilities. The hospitality and
generosity of the people was so very sincere and so greatly appreciated by all of us.
Then as
the diplomat's daughter, I came home and attended
functions of State and formal balls that most girls
could only dream about or read about in Fairy Tales.
It was one of the most magical times of my life.
Reality Sets In
After three wonderful
years, I came back home to the United States and
"reality" set in. No more maids and cooks, seamstresses
and chauffeurs. No more homes with marble floors and
40' x 40' formal dining rooms and screened-in
terraces for entertaining. No more gardens and
flowerbeds that would win a First Place Prize in Better Homes
and Gardens ï¾ right in our own front yard and
courtyard! In fact, no more anything like that, period.
It was back to university for me "to get a good
education, so I could get a good job, so I could work
for 40 hours a week for someone else, and retire in 40
years with..." - what? - why? - for some job security? (Wake up!
folks. Job security doesn't exist anymore! But I didn't
know that then.)
You have to remember that this
was before the days of Network Marketing; before the
days of authors like Robert Kyosaki or
T. Harv Ecker who would give us a
new and different way of looking at work, business and
investing.
So I did what any head-strong young
woman would have done in the 60's when she was
convinced that she was "in love"
. . . I quit
university after three and a half years! and got married!
OK, OK. I came back
to my senses later on. Five
years and four wonderful children later (and after my first devastating divorce), I
returned to University as a single parent and got my
degree. In fact, I was a glutton for punishment. I worked during the day and even
went back to school at night after graduation and
worked on my Masters Degree!
My Working
Career
My working career spanned 30 years
and five countries. From a public relations secretary
and paralegal assistant in Washington, DC while I was
working my way through school, to working for the
Congress of Micronesia in Saipan in the Mariana
Islands, to working as an accountant for Arthur
Andersen (Yikes! did I actually admit to having worked
for that firm?!), to working as the Administrative
Director of a non-profit educational organization, to the
Controller of a Major Oil Company, to
the accounting department of a community services
organization, to teaching English as a Second Language
in the Province of Quebec, to running the Housing
Resource Center in a small town in Ontario, Canada.
I left out quite a few of the little twidget
jobs in between; and the fact that I lived and worked
in the United States, the Philippines, Guam, Saipan,
Palau, Japan, and Canada; but my main specialty was
always accounting and administration.
The years
went by, the children grew up, I remarried, and I was
still working my 40 hours a week (Ha! more like 60
hours a week), each and every week, for someone else. I
was doing most of the work, but my employer was getting
most of the profit. And even though I was paid very well, I lived paycheck to paycheck.
No matter how much I got paid as an accountant (and it
was considerable), no matter how many raises I
received, I still lived paycheck to paycheck.
Then in walked something called Network Marketing!
Illness
Strikes!
I had cancer in 1994, surgery at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, radiation
treatments, doctors, the works. I went downhill quite
fast, and spent the next 6 years trying to regain my
health. During my recovery I suffered greatly from the
chronic fatigue of fibromyalgia, excruciating and debilitating arthritis
complications, horrendous migraine headaches -- and the
list goes on and on. I spent 20 hours a day in bed -
ill, exhausted, and most of the time hanging on to life with just
a whisper.
Then one night, a total stranger called and spoke to my husband
about a Network Marketing opportunity. It was late and we were already in bed.
For months I talked incessantly about "getting better and having
my own business and never working for someone else again . . ."
so Georges passed the phone over to me. He said, "My wife is the one
who would be interested in this."
I was really
miffed at him. I had absolutely NO desire to become
involved with anything having to do with MLM and
health. Absolutely not. I was totally disillusioned with
the Medical establishment, disliked having people try to "sell"
me something I didn't want and couldn't afford, etc., etc.
My time was precious to me. I was only able to spend a couple of hours a day sitting up in
a chair, trying to regain my health, and I was only able to do a little bit of work here
and a little there, as my strength would allow.
But George had already told the man on the phone
that I would check out the information on his web site,
so I was trapped and I felt obligated to at least look
at it (just a peek) before I told him no, No,
NO. Thank you.
The joke was on me. It took me a week before I
was able to sit at the computer long enough to go through some of
the material. I was
fascinated by what I read. I listened to a tape
entitled, "Dead
Doctors Don't Lie!" by Dr. Joel Wallach, 1991
Nobel Prize Nominee in Medicine. I checked out
the web site and all of its information thoroughly for 12
solid hours before going back to bed. I was fascinated. I
was sick, and I thought that maybe the
product would help me, too. (These are the newest products that
I am taking. Be sure to watch the 5 minute presentation on that page!)
I'm Sick
and Tired of . . .
When you have been ill for
a number of years, you get sick and tired of being sick
and tired. At the same time I had become quite
skeptical of the medical community.
Everybody and
their uncle was trying to help me by telling me, "Try
this. Try that. You should be doing this. You should be
doing that." Blah, blah, blah, blah. I was too sick to care and
the pain was too excruciating to even hear.
It was awful. Because I HAD tried all
those things, and I still wasn't getting any better. When the Medical estblishment
wasn't able to help me, we spent all of
our money and all of our savings on alternative remedies. Hundreds of thousands of dollars! Some things helped a little.
Some things helped a lot. But nothing really did the trick.
But this product was different, I told myself.
. . . And it was . . .
